Range Rover has officially unveiled the new Range Rover Sport Electric, introducing fully electric propulsion to one of its most recognizable luxury SUVs.

Announced on September 30, 2026, the electric model combines powerful performance, advanced suspension technology and the off-road capabilities traditionally associated with the British manufacturer.

The new vehicle delivers up to 550 PS and offers a maximum WLTP driving range of 609 kilometers.

It also introduces advanced charging technology designed to make long-distance electric driving more practical.

Order books are now open in selected markets.

An Electric Powertrain With 550 PS

The new Range Rover Sport Electric features two electric motors.

Each motor produces up to 260 kW, providing the SUV with all-wheel drive and a combined output of up to 550 PS.

The electric drivetrain generates 850 Nm of torque.

According to Range Rover, this is the highest torque output ever offered by a Range Rover Sport.

With Dynamic Launch Mode activated, the vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 4.3 seconds.

That performance places the electric model alongside some of the most powerful combustion-powered versions of the Range Rover Sport.

However, the company emphasizes that the vehicle was developed to deliver controlled and responsive performance rather than simply impressive acceleration figures.

Up to 609 KM of Electric Range

The Range Rover Sport Electric uses a 118.5-kWh lithium-ion battery.

Its advanced electrical architecture operates at 800 volts, allowing the vehicle to support high-power charging.

The manufacturer claims a maximum driving range of 609 kilometers under WLTP testing.

Range Rover also estimates a real-world driving range of up to approximately 333 miles under its specified test conditions.

Actual range will vary depending on driving conditions, temperature, vehicle configuration and individual driving habits.

The battery incorporates advanced thermal management technology designed to maintain performance across different environmental conditions.

Fast Charging for Longer Journeys

Charging performance is another important feature.

The 800-volt architecture allows the vehicle to take advantage of compatible high-power DC charging stations.

According to Range Rover, the battery can recharge from 10% to 80% in approximately 22 minutes under suitable conditions.

Drivers can also recover up to 220 kilometers of WLTP driving range in approximately 10 minutes when charging at the vehicle’s maximum supported rate.

These capabilities are particularly important for a luxury SUV designed for long-distance travel.

Charging performance will depend on infrastructure availability, battery conditions and environmental factors.

Advanced Suspension and Driving Technology

Range Rover has developed a specialized chassis configuration for the electric Sport.

The vehicle incorporates Adaptive Dynamics, advanced damping technology and electronic suspension management.

An available electronic Active Roll Control system helps manage body movements during acceleration, braking and cornering.

All-wheel steering is also available to improve maneuverability.

The manufacturer says the electric version features a body structure that is approximately 61% stiffer than its plug-in hybrid counterparts.

Its center of gravity is also 73 millimeters lower.

These engineering changes are intended to improve vehicle stability and driving responsiveness.

Designed for Off-Road Adventures

Although the Range Rover Sport Electric is a luxury SUV, the manufacturer has maintained its focus on off-road performance.

The vehicle features an advanced traction management system and electronically controlled all-wheel drive.

According to Range Rover, it can navigate inclines of up to 45 degrees and drive through water up to 900 millimeters deep under the specified conditions.

The company conducted extensive testing in challenging environments to evaluate the electric drivetrain and suspension.

One of its final development challenges took place in the marble quarries of Carrara, Italy.

Engineers used the demanding terrain to evaluate traction, power delivery and handling on difficult surfaces.

These tests form part of the manufacturer’s effort to maintain traditional Range Rover capabilities in its electric vehicles.

A Familiar Design With Electric Improvements

The exterior maintains the muscular proportions associated with the Range Rover Sport.

However, the electric version incorporates several aerodynamic improvements.

These include a redesigned grille and specialized alloy wheels.

The changes are intended to improve efficiency while preserving the vehicle’s recognizable appearance.

Inside, the electric model maintains the technology and comfort features expected from a premium Range Rover.

Drivers also receive access to connected charging functions through the Range Rover application.

Available Versions

Range Rover has announced several versions of the new electric SUV.

The initial lineup includes Dynamic SE, Dynamic HSE, Autobiography and First Edition specifications.

Customers selecting the Autobiography version can also access the Range Rover Bespoke personalization service.

This program offers additional exterior finishes, interior materials and other customization options.

The First Edition introduces exclusive visual details, including a distinctive exterior finish and specialized wheels.

Exact equipment and pricing will vary depending on the market.

Manufactured in the United Kingdom

The Range Rover Sport Electric will be manufactured in Solihull, United Kingdom.

Production will take place alongside gasoline, diesel and plug-in hybrid versions of the existing SUV.

This manufacturing strategy allows Range Rover to offer customers several powertrain options within the same vehicle family.

The electric model also benefits from engineering developments shared with the larger Range Rover Electric.

A New Competitor in the Luxury EV Market

The introduction of the Range Rover Sport Electric expands the manufacturer’s presence in the growing luxury electric SUV segment.

It will compete for customers considering premium electric SUVs from established luxury manufacturers.

Its combination of electric performance, advanced suspension technology and off-road capabilities provides an alternative to traditional gasoline-powered luxury SUVs.

With 550 PS, a large battery and 800-volt charging architecture, the Range Rover Sport Electric represents another significant development in the electrification of premium vehicles.

The new model is now available to order in selected markets, marking the beginning of a new chapter for Range Rover’s performance-oriented SUV.
